Terenure College Community Choir
Established in 2013, Terenure College Community Choir now has over 50 members. The Choir maintains an unbroken tradition of service at the liturgies in the College Chapel throughout the year, and has performed at numerous events organised by the Irish Province of Carmelites.
Over the last seven years, the Choir has performed in Ireland and Italy, and has been invited to perform on Irish national television a number of times. The Choir is currently focussed on preparing a Choral tour to New York in October 2020, where it will present recitals of traditional and contemporary sacred music rooted in the Irish tradition.
Since its inception, the Choir has been directed by Fr. James Eivers, O.Carm, under whose guidance it continues to thrive and develop. Comprising of a group of dedicated and committed singers, the Choir draws its membership from across South Dublin and includes people of varied musical backgrounds and none, many of whom are parents of current or former students of the College. For special performances the Choir collaborates with the gentlemen of Terenure College’s Schola Cantorum and invited musicians from the National Symphony Orchestra.
The Choir strives for a high-level of choral excellence that is only achievable through the exceptional commitments of its members to weekly (sometimes twice-weekly) rehearsals and regular vocal workshops. Amidst the intensity of rehearsals there is a strong social element that members enjoy which has forged many friendships as well as being good for mind, body and spirit.
The Choir holds open rehearsals each September and January. Should you be interested in joining the Choir please email nurecomchoir@gmail.com
