TERENURE COLLEGE SPRING DRAMA COMPETITION 2010
Congratulations to Presentation Convent National School who have just won the Fr. S. Hannigan Perpetual Trophy for the second year running!

The qualifying Rounds of the Competition took place in early March and the qualifying schools then took part in the Final in the College Concert Hall on Thursday the 18th of March. The competition was adjudicated by Ms. Cora Russell and Mr. Darryl Kinsella of the Terenure College Drama Faculty.
Pupils from Presentation presented a fantastic production of “The Wizard of Oz” written by Brendan Ryan and produced by Ms. Anne Keating. It was a colourful, witty and entertaining piece highlighted by a brilliant rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” which moved many in the audience to tears!! Ballyroan Boys NS were worthy runners-up with a powerful performance of “King Hal” adapted by their producer, Anne Quill-Mazzoni, from Shakespeare’s Henry V. The lines were spoken beautifully and complemented by very well choreographed mimes and brilliantly realistic battle scenes.
Other highlights of the night were subtle and entertaining study on “Reflections” with a charming companion piece “Hansel and Gretel” by St. Andrew’s. Produced by Claire Walsh and a typically witty and robust satire, “Chaotic Robotics” by the boys from St. Joseph’s Terenure.
As well as the Fr. Hannigan Perpetual Trophy, Presentation Convent were presented with a First Prize of vouchers for €250.00. There was also €200.00 worth of vouchers for our runners-up Ballyroan BNS and €100.00 worth of vouchers for our third place winners St. Andrew’s.
It was a pleasure to have each school's teams, parents, family and friends in the College on the ‘Final Evening’ and we look forward to seeing them all again next year!
Our thanks to Mr. Joe McDonnell of the Drama Faculty, Terenure College for all his hard work on this competition. Thanks also to Ms. Cora Russell and Mr. Darryl Kinsella on their adjudication and to Ms. Catherine Lynch and the Past Pupils' Union for their kind sponsorship of the Competition.
* This Competition is aimed at boys and girls of Fifth and Sixth Class in the surrounding National Schools of our local community. It will take place over two weeks in January/February of the New Year.
Terenure College has had a long and successful association with the Dramatic Arts. Most notably amongst our past pupils are Lorcan Cranitch, Michael McElhatton and the late Donal McCann. We have developed this Competition to encourage further involvement in the Dramatic Arts and recognise the talent that is out there in our local schools.
There is a Perpetual Trophy and prizes for the winning school and their winning team, as well as the accompanying teacher(s)/staff.
We hope you are able to participate in what we hope will grow to be a rewarding and ongoing event in our local community.
If interested in participating in next year's competition please contact Joe McDonnell or Emer McElduff at Email: admin@terenurecollege.ie.
