TERENURE COLLEGE SPRING DRAMA COMPETITION 2011
Congratulations to St. Kilian’s German School who have just won the Fr. S. Hannigan Perpetual Trophy at the Terenure College Spring Drama Competition 2011 held in the College Concert Hall on Tuesday the 15th of March. The competition was adjudicated by Ms. Fiana Holland of Mount Anville and Mr. Darryl Kinsella of the Terenure College Drama Faculty.

The winning pupils from St. Kilian’s presented a fantastic production of “Mrs. Frankenstein MD” written by Robert Reed and directed by Mr. William Mansfield. It was a colourful, witty and entertaining piece highlighted by brilliant acting and an especially moving portrayal of Frankenstein himself!
St. Joseph’s Boys NS were worthy runners-up with a powerful performance of “Letters” written and produced by Anthony O’Flynn, a fine study of the Scott expedition to the South Pole. The lines were spoken beautifully and complimented by a very realistic depiction of South Pole exploration.
The other highlight of the night was a subtle and absorbing performance of Leo Tolstoy’s “The Three Questions”, directed again by William Mansfield and performed by students of St. Kilian’s German School. It was a truly wonderful production and won many supporters in the audience.
As well as the Fr. Hannigan Perpetual Trophy, St. Kilian’s German School were presented with a First Prize of vouchers for €250.00. There was also €200.00 worth of vouchers for our runners-up St. Joseph’s Boys NS and €100.00 worth of vouchers for our third place winners St. Kilian’s.
It was a pleasure to have each school's teams, parents, family and friends in the College on the ‘Final Evening’ and we look forward to seeing them all again next year!
Our thanks to Mr. Joe McDonnell of the Drama Faculty, Terenure College for all his hard work on this competition. Thanks also to Ms. Fiana Holland and Mr. Darryl Kinsella on their adjudication and to Catherine Lynch and the Past Pupils' Union for their kind sponsorship of the Competition.
* This Competition is aimed at boys and girls of Fifth and Sixth Class in the surrounding National Schools of our local community. It will take place over two weeks in January/February of the New Year.
Terenure College has had a long and successful association with the Dramatic Arts. Most notably amongst our past pupils are Lorcan Cranitch, Michael McElhatton and the late Donal McCann. We have developed this Competition to encourage further involvement in the Dramatic Arts and recognise the talent that is out there in our local schools.
There is a Perpetual Trophy and prizes for the winning school and their winning team, as well as the accompanying teacher(s)/staff.
We hope you are able to participate in what we hope will grow to be a rewarding and ongoing event in our local community.
