SCUBA DIVING
2008/2009 was the first year of Scuba Diving at Terenure College and was a great success.
Transition Year students participate in 4 separate courses during the academic year. Each course runs for 6 weeks and includes 5 “Knowledge Development Sessions” and 5 “Confined Water Sessions”. At the end of the 6 weeks the students attend a Dive Centre in the west of Ireland to carry out 4 open water dives. Students who complete the Course and Dives receive an ‘Open Water Diver Certificate’ (PADI), which entitles them to dive anywhere in the world with a buddy.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Paul Ward (father of pupil Jack Ward) for the generous amount of time that he gives to make this course possible. His help and expertise are invaluable. We will be running the same course this year as a TY Programme and are also hoping to fit in a course or two for those who wish to follow on from last year’s tuition.
Congratulations to Silvio Borza, Stephen Caffrey, Jody Carroll, Gary Clarkin, Nathan Misischi, Conal O’Neill, Thomas Walsh and Carl Whelan who successfully completed their 6 Week Course in the College and look forward to their open water dives in the West of Ireland.
Good luck to Eoghan Conlon-O’Neill, Conor Dignam, Seán Jennings and Brian Kenny who are working on their qualification at the moment.
