PRESIDENTIAL VISIT
26th January 2010

One of the highlights of the Jubilee Year took place on Tuesday the 26th of January when President Mary McAleese paid an official visit to the College.

During her address to the entire College Community, the President emphasized the opportunity and need for this generation of students to choose to be people of action, to be people who choose to become involved in the work of building up and improving our country and our world.

She spoke of what Ireland was like in 1860, when Terenure College, was founded and how it is so different today. The President emphasized the enormous potential of our students and what wonderful young people they are. She also praised all who currently and in the past have provided the great opportunity for young people that is an education in Terenure College.

At the Assembly our School Captain, Ian Kenny, warmly welcomed the President. Both Ian, and later the Prior, Fr. Michael, thanked President McAleese for the great honour of her visit.

Earlier in her visit, as she arrived, the President planted a tree and then visited some classes, as well as meeting with some groups of students who are involved in various extra curricular activities.
