TERENURE COLLEGE JUNIOR SCHOOL INFORMATION
Terenure College JUNIOR SCHOOL is an independent Fee Paying School, in the Catholic tradition, catering for pupils from THIRD to SIXTH Class, ages eight to twelve years. Committed to all round excellence, the Junior School is known for its high standards in the academic and sporting spheres and its happy, well-disciplined, family atmosphere. Our pupils learn, grow and work together in an environment of co-operation and mutual respect.
As a small Junior School we celebrate the uniqueness of each pupil in our care and strive to develop their potential to the full. Our Mission Statement, Code of Discipline and other policy documents create a structured environment where an atmosphere of care prevails.
There is an important continuity between Junior and Senior Schools, which ensures a smooth transition to Second Level Education. Pupils proceed to First Year in Senior School at the end of Sixth Class.
Our central aim is to encourage a love of learning. We provide a caring, happy and exciting environment within which our pupils are given a wide range of learning opportunities that meets their needs and lays the foundation of their future lives.
Following the guidelines of the Department of Education and Science, we offer our pupils a varied and stimulating curriculum that includes: ENGLISH, MATHS, IRISH, RELIGIOUS EDUCATION, FRENCH/SPANISH, HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY, S.P.H.E., ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES/SCIENCE, VISUAL ARTS, MUSIC, COMPUTERS, P.E. AND SWIMMING.
Our system is subject teaching drawing on the expertise of specialist teachers. This method gives variety to the pupils and enhances character development.
Curriculum facilities include: COMPUTER ROOM, ART/ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES ROOM, SPECIAL NEEDS ROOM AND LIBRARY.
Our pupils benefit from small mixed ability classes, average class size 24.
Sharing a campus with the Senior School gives us the benefit of excellent sporting facilities.
A Comprehensive Games Programme is offered to all pupils during lunch break and after school. These include: RUGBY, TENNIS, BADMINTON, GAELIC FOOTBALL, SWIMMING, CRICKET AND SOCCER.
Co-curricular Activities include: SPEECH/DEBATING, DRAMA, CUBS/SCOUTING, MATHS AND CHESS CLUB.
The size of our school allows us to have a caring family environment where parents always feel welcome to discuss the happiness and progress of their children.
