When someone we love dies, it hurts us. We feel sad that the person will no longer be around to talk to or to have fun with. Their absence leaves a big hole in our lives. After a while, we can go back to our lives, still loving them and remembering them always. This doesn't mean we forget the person who died, or that we stop missing them. Each year the school community gathers to remember our loved ones who have died during the month of the Holy Souls. Pupils in all classes put the names of deceased members of their family and friends on a Memorial Sheet, which was then displayed near the Chaplaincy.

The boys put a lot of work into the preparation of this year's Service. Each Year Group will had their own Service on Tuesday and Wednesday the 24th and 25th of November, while there was a Service open to the public on Wednesday, 25th of November 2009 at 7.30 p.m. in the College Chapel.

December 2009
ADVENT The Season of Advent a time of preparation for the Feast of Christ’s birth is marked throughout the school. Advent is both a beginning and an ending. It marks the end of the civil calendar and the beginning of the Church’s sacred cycle. Through moments of quiet reflection and the introduction of symbols such as the Advent Wreath and Jesse Tree, we tell again the story of Christ’s coming among us.
'Feast of the Immaculate Conception' – December 8th
The Immaculate Conception, is a special feast day that honours Mary the Mother of God. It is one of the few Holy days of obligation on the Church calendar - that is, all Catholics are obligated to attend Mass on this day. As this feast occurs early in Advent, it is a perfect time to consider Mary and her important role in the celebration of Christmas. It is also a special day for the Carmelites in Ireland because Mary – the Immaculate Conception is their special patron.
CAROL SERVICE
Our Annual Carol Service for Senior School takes place on Tuesday, 15th of December at 12 noon in the College Chapel.
* The Junior School Carol Service will take place at 7.30 p.m. on Monday 21st of December, also in the College Chapel.
