Terenure College 1860 - 2010
A History
By Professor Fergus D'Arcy
This, the first official History of the College, was launched on Wednesday, 25th of November 2009 by Dr. Maurice Manning, Chancellor of NUI (National University of Ireland)

Professor Fergus A. D'Arcy has written a wonderful history of the first 150 years of the College. He writes with the discipline of the academic but with the flair of a great story teller. His work will be a valuable tool for scholars of the future but will also be enjoyed by the lay reader.
The first chapter is entitled ‘The First Pupils’. Professor D'Arcy explains “the first chapter was going to be ‘The Founding Fathers’, which I thought had wit and obvious historical resonances. However as I proceeded with my research, examining the archives, and particularly as I interviewed many older Carmelites, teachers and old boys I quickly realised that whole raison d’etre of the College is all about the pupils therein”.
Terenure College, 1860-2010, A History is an excellent survey of the College which weaves a fine tapestry with the pupils, Carmelites and policy along with the sporting and other extra curricular pursuits over the years since 10th January 1860. Professor D'Arcy’s words are lavishly illustrated with many photographs and archival gems throughout, thus creating a volume of over 500 pages.
